"Can I use Self Help to Help Become a Success?"

Can I use Self Help and Self Development for Success ?

Yes....Spencer,
Simply by following any one or more self help and self development routines given on this page .

Let me explain how our mind is;
We are all born with a clean slate for a mind. But all the rubbish that we are fed with during the process of growing up spoils the slate that was initially clean.
The mind of the baby is like a glass of pure, crystal clear water. As the baby grows, impurities are introduced in this clean water. The water gets muddied. And it will stay so and will even get more muddied if care is not taken to clean it.

Fortunately, there are ways to clean this water:
Simply pour more clean water into the glass!
The dirty water will first get diluted, and as more and more clean water is poured, it will get cleaner and cleaner.
If we keep on pouring clean water in, a stage will come when the water in the glass will become almost as pure as it was initially!
And this is exactly what we can do with our mind using self help. When we submerge our mind with good, positive thoughts, the junk is forced out.

Positive thoughts bring about positive results and life becomes attractive again.
Every individual is different. Hence, the same self development program may not work for everyone. A person may need self help for any of the following (or more):
  • to come out of depression
  • to manage stress
  • to make money (and fast)
  • to boost self esteem.
The mind

Our mind is made up of two parts, the conscious mind and the subconscious mind.

The conscious mind makes up only 10% of the mind and controls such things as rational/logical thought.
The subconscious mind makes up 90% of the mind and stores habits and beliefs, memory, personality, self image and such things.
It is estimated that we are bombarded with more than ten thousand external stimuli every day. Imagine what a difficult task our mind must have in dealing with so many stimuli. Hence nature has devised a system to protect the mind.
In between the conscious and subconscious mind is a filter called the Reticular Activating System (R.A.S.). This filter scans all the incoming stimuli from the outside world and decides the priority of each item. It is then sorted and some information is sent to the conscious mind and some to the subconscious mind.
For example, remember your experience of buying a new piece of apparel, say a dark blue denim jacket. Then, wherever you go suddenly you begin to notice every person wearing a a dark blue denim jacket. It is not that these people did not wear a dark blue denim jacket before. But it is only NOW that you start noticing it. This is called selective attention.
It is as if the radar in your brain, in this case the Reticular Activating System, has tuned into a dark blue denim jackets as an important factor in your life.
It chooses to bring every person wearing a dark blue denim jacket you see into your consciousness for a time, until the novelty of having a new leather jacket wears off.
The R.A.S. is the security guard that chooses what gets through to the subconscious mind, and it is estimated that less than 30% of the input that our conscious mind receives gets through to the subconscious mind.
But there are ways to bypass the R.A.S. so that new information can get into the subconscious mind. The key is relaxation.
When you relax, which slows down your brain, the R.A.S. filter opens up and allows free flow of information between the two minds.
The point is that if you are trying to achieve something using only rational thought you are only using 10% of your mind, which of course is not very efficient self help. It is far more effective to use that section of your mind which is predominant.
This is the basic technique followed in all self help exercises. There are a variety of ways of impressing the subconscious mind with the thoughts and ideas of our desire.
All the techniques are discussed below. Choose and implement, the technique that suits you.
Self help techniques to change your life.

An important factor to bear in mind is that the conscious mind uses the information stored in the subconscious mind, for example beliefs, as one of the programs to run your life.
So, for effective personal growth it is necessary to change the beliefs, i.e. it is necessary to reprogram the subconscious mind.
If you want to live a full, satisfying life, you have to fill your subconscious mind with thoughts of the kind of life that you desire. All the self help programs that I discuss here will show you how to do that.

  • Affirmations are simple, straightforward statements of positive action or a declaration of your current status.

We repeat affirmations over and over again so that the subconscious mind starts believing them as true.

    It then
molds your actions to suit your thoughts, which takes you nearer to the life of your desires.

  • Creative Visualization is probably the most powerful life changing tool.

You simply visualize, or see in your mind’s eye, the kind of life you desire.

Do this again and again till your subconscious mind starts believing it as true and makes you act to bring it about.

  • Hypnosis is yet another way of bypassing the conscious mind and influencing the subconscious mind to change your life for the better.

And you don’t even need a hypnotist for that!

There are ready made MP3s and CDs on almost all topics.

  • Setting goals and achieving them is an important step in self help and self development.

It helps you become an achiever and raises your self esteem.

  • It is impossible to succeed at anything if one has low self esteem.

Low or negative self esteem is a bane and every effort should be made to raise one’s self esteem.

  • If you want to make great strides in life, it's necessary to remain positive.

You have to cultivate positive thinking because positive thinking generates positive expectancy and it is expectancy that gets results.

Finally, it is important to remain motivated during the process of self improvement.

I wish you great luck in your attempt to improve your life. The journey is interesting and fulfilling. Enjoy!

4 personality types when recruiting

4 Personality Types To Look For When Recruiting Your Team

The people you will surround yourself with will either make or break your company. You might have the privilege of picking your partners and employees and you might have to inherit others.

When hiring people or picking partners, most focus on the other person’s technical abilities and track record. When it comes to personality, most of us go only as far as evaluating how likeable the person is or how well we think we will get along with him/her. There is a better way to pick the right personality.
Let’s start by defining personality. The American Psychological Association defines personality as the individual differences in characteristic patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving. There is a branch of psychology dedicated to personality and plenty of attempts that apply theories to the workplace to help companies be more effective. In general, most of these theories will present four personality types at work using different labels:

1- Thinkers:

They are intellectuals that value exploring new concepts, breaking the status quo, and charting new directions or better ways to do things. They value knowledge, enjoy discussing and debating ideas, analyse things thoroughly before taking action, and want things to be done well. They take their time before taking action and are annoyed when rushed.

2- Doers:

They are action oriented, energetic, and playful. They hit the ground running, take
risks, are competitive, have a heavy bias towards action, and like solving problems to achieve results. They are disorganized, get bored easily, and have low tolerance for long discussions and theory.

3- Organizers:

They are the neat freaks who are very organized and strict about following the rules. They are dependable, loyal, stable, consistent, hard working, and punctual. They don’t like change and prefer to stick to the rules.

4- Feelers:

This is the “people person” type. They are emotional, expressive, sensitive, sincere, and entertaining. They care about other people’s feelings, add the “human touch” to the workplace, mediate in conflict, and are great at building a team spirit. They can walk into a room full of strangers and walk out as everyone’s friend. They take things personally and find it difficult to discipline people around them without hurting their feelings.

What you should know about and do with personality types:

1- A person will have different degrees of each personality type. Some will be dominated by a particular type while others will have a balance between two or more.
- Identify which personality type(s) you are. Rank yourself on the four types by splitting 100 points on the four types (e.g. You might be 40 Thinker, 30 Organizer, 20 Doer, and 10 Feeler).

2- There is no “good” or “bad” type of personality. Each personality has unique attributes that make them special and capable in certain circumstances.

3- Figure out your strengths and match your work to leverage them. Identify the attributes you need and pick people that have those strengths (e.g. Hire an Organizer if your processes need to be organized). Make sure you give everyone an equal chance to leverage his/her strength rather than fit them to your style.
For example, my dominant personality type is equally Thinker & Organizer while my wife is mainly a Feeler & Doer. We have a constant struggle where she wants to get things done while I want to make sure we are doing the right thing and exploring a better way to do it. She instils a sense of urgency that keeps me from taking too long while I keep us from jumping into something we will have to redo later.

4- Each type has a unique communication style. For example, a Feeler will take criticism personally, but will get excited from a simple praise. A Doer will get annoyed at extended talking and will want to get straight to the point. a great example of how you can be more persuasive based on your choice of wording is  What’s more persuasive? “I think…” or “I feel…”?.

5- Understand the person’s dominant type and cater how you communicate to match his/her personality style. If you are dealing with a Feeler, be sensitive to his/her feelings and spend some time conversing before getting into business. Get straight to the point with a Doer.

What is your experience with working with different personality types? What will you be looking for when hiring someone or picking a partner?

The 3 M's to Marketing Madness

Market - Message - Method

You hear it shouted all over the place,Find your passion to build your Internet business.”
If all you had to do was find your passion…then why are there so many “starving artists?”

There are people very passionate about what they do who can’t make a living, BECAUSE they don’t have an audience lined up to buy what they’re offering.

Everything starts with the market first.

If you want to succeed online,
 you need 3 M’s:

1. Market
2. Message
3. Method

Find Your Market

You have to choose a MARKET – a target audience who wants what you offer. In addition you have to make sure you’re willing to do what it takes to reach this audience. If they’re best found through search engines, are you willing to optimize your site for the search engines OR run pay-per-click ads there?

If the audience is best reached through an affiliate program, are you willing to pay affiliates well and DO the work of tracking down and contacting the right affiliates?

What if your audience means you have to go offline for promotion? For example, all my clients who sell B2B eventually go offline into journals and/or mailing lists in their industry.

In addition, are you willing to set-up a business model that matches the competition in your field. For example, if all the top competitors have high ticket items or a continuity, is that something you’re willing to put into your long-term business plan?

Share Your Message

After you have a market, you must have a message. This is where passion really comes into the equation. What is your UNIQUE MESSAGE that you’re passionately
presenting.

You research your competition to make sure it’s a successful and profitable market. And you also do your research to see what gap you can fill. What message isn't being shared in the way only you can share it?

The message I share for example is to Earn More, Work Less, and Enjoy Life without compromising your values. That’s vital to me. I can’t stand the idea of having to “give your life” just to succeed in business and I also can’t stand the idea that “business is business” and your values end where the office begins.

So everything I do, share, and teach comes back to that core message.

What is your CORE message? What benefit are you sharing with your audience? How can you make a difference in your world?

Use a Consistent Method

Consistency is the key. It’s not about writing one article and watching it pass all over the Internet. It’s about consistently putting out information aligned with your message.
This may be in auto-responders, written blog posts, videos, or audio's. It’s your choice.

The important element is following a system YOU can be consistent with.

What type of information/content can you consistently put out about your passionate message?

Which format can you get the most riled up about…and wanting to get back to work to share the next idea from your notebook?

Keep It Simple

I like keeping it simple, but the concept of “simply following your passion” doesn't quite hit the market.

Yes, you want to be passionate – but you've got to have the market, the message, and the method.

The big question today is do you have YOUR MESSAGE? And are you using a consistent method to reach your market?
